Carlos Landi Sorondo studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando and the Grande Chaumière Free Academy in Paris. He won several prizes at the Competition for New Artists in San Sebastian between 1920 and 1925. He made numerous posters for the Laborde y Labayen graphic arts workshop in Tolosa. He travelled extensively, from Italy to Paris, to Ghent and Madrid.
The strong and unusual composition, the lack of sky and large areas of dominated by green, of the present work mark it out as being both peculiar and strangely engaging.
