There is something mesmerising about the way the moonlight creeps through the clouds and reflects on the water. This, coupled with the intriguing, and perhaps somewhat haunting, single light inside the house creates a mysterious and enticing atmosphere. Lindberg’s works are often dramatic, open landscapes, absent of humans, which convey the but this work is different and taps into a more intimate, more peculiar emotion.
Born in Söderhamn, Sweden in 1880, Lindberg studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm and later travelled to Germany and Italy to continue his studies. Lindberg's style shows an engagement with Post-Impressionism and Symbolism; he aimed to capture the atmosphere and light of nature and also depict the ungraspable or unexplainable.
